The Sagrada Família by Gaudí Made of Chocolate

Millions of people from around the world visit every year the Sagrada Família by Antoni Gaudí. This building is not only a one of a kind architectural construction, but it is also the most important icon of Barcelona. Perhaps for this reason, and due to the fact that Torrons Vicens shop –where he works– is situated in front of the building, the young, skilled chocolatier Adrián Ramírez decided to get involved with creating a chocolate replica of the Sagrada Família.

The job was not easy. Without plan and previous knowledge of architecture, Ramírez devoted an entire month of work –including some nights– to create an exact replica of the structure of the Sagrada Família with the help of a computer, 3D printer and a lot of intuition.

The construction phase lasted over 4 more months, taking into account the tests, the assembly and the corrections. Overall, Ramírez has dedicated over 5 months and 170 kilos of Chocovic 60% Yagara dark chocolate approximately to build his spectacular scale replica of the Sagrada Família.

The work is constituted by 498 pieces of chocolate and its height is 1’40 metres. The structure is made in large part of solid chocolate so as to hold the weight of some elements, such as the Christ tower that weights 30 kilos approximately.

The chocolate Sagrada Família will be displayed for some time in the Torrons Vicens shop that is found in the Provença 431 Street from Barcelona –in front of the original building with which share the orientation–.

For sure, Gaudí would be amazed in front of such spectacular replica!
